If you’re looking to find out a bit more about Northumbria Health, we have gathered some frequently asked questions so you can learn more about our service. If you have any questions that aren’t on this list, contact our team on 0191 203 1253 or email privatepatients@northumbria-healthcare.nhs.uk.
Most of our consultants would prefer a referral from your GP, so that they can understand your medical needs. However, it is not always necessary and your consultant will advise.
Our consultants will aim to offer you an initial appointment at the first available opportunity and your treatment will be scheduled as soon as possible after that.
Prices of our test and treatments vary. Please see our pricing page which has a list of our prices. Please note these are guide prices (excluding initial consultation fee and investigations) and subject to change at any time.
Please contact the Northumbria Health team via email at privatepatients@northumbia-healthcare.nhs.uk or call us on 0191 203 1253

Northumbria Health is the private healthcare arm of Northumbria Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust. Northumbria Health offers people who want to pay, or who are covered by their insurance company, the choice of having their procedure in an NHS facility.
Patients can be reassured they will receive the highest quality care at all of our hospitals across the trust. All the profits from private activity are re-invested into our frontline services.
Our hospitals don’t have private accommodations of their own. The majority of private treatments are likely to be accommodated in a single-sex bay, while side rooms are assigned according to clinical necessity.
We will endeavour to provide you with a single room, but this cannot be guaranteed.
You can make payments in a variety of ways. We accept payments by credit/debit card and bank transfer. Payment of your treatment must be made in advance (at least 7 days prior). You can contact the private patient team on 0191 203 1253 to arrange this.
