Dr Vinita Raheja

Dr Raheja is working as a Consultant Obstetrician and Gynaecologist in Northumbria Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust since 2015. She completed her training programme in Northern deanery. She worked as a clinical Director for the department between 2016 and 2020. Her main areas of expertise are in the management of abnormal uterine bleeding, pelvic pain, early pregnancy problems and high-risk pregnancy including pre-conception counselling.

She has been working in obstetrics and gynaecology since the year 2000. She offers day case surgery for most gynaecology problems including diagnostic hysteroscopy, Myosure (removal of polyp/fibroids), radiofrequency endometrial ablation (Novasure), insertion and removal of coil, uterine biopsy, diagnostic laparoscopy, salpingo-oophorectomy (removal of tubes and ovaries) laparoscopic sterilization, management of miscarriage and so on.

She has done MD in Obstetrics and Gynacology from India in 2003 and completed MRCOG in 2006. She has recently ben accredited with FRCOG certification from Royal College of Obstetrcian and Gynaecologists.

She is the research lead for the department and she has also been the local principal investigator for several national research trials.

She is also involved in training doctors (both GP trainees and specialist trainees) in teh capacity of educational and clincal supervisoer.
