About
Mr Shafiq has been an Ophthalmology Consultant at the Royal Victoria Infirmary, Newcastle, since 2001. He is an Honorary Consultant at Sunderland Royal Infirmary.
He graduated in Medicine from Oxford University Medical School, obtaining a Masters in Natural Sciences first from Cambridge University.
He performs over 500 adult cataract operations per year. His speed and skill are utilised to make surgery a quick, comfortable and easy experience for his patients. Mr Shafiq treats astigmatism and uses multifocal lenses in appropriate situations and offers a bespoke service for each patient.
