About
Mr Petheram is an experienced hip and knee replacement surgeon, being in consultant practice since 2014. He has a specialist interest in complex hip and knee replacement and revision (re-do). Following training in Exeter, London and the North East he undertook specialist fellowship training in the world famous Exeter Hip unit. He has undertaken a prestigious AAHKS travelling fellowship to Mayo clinic and Rothman Institutes in North America.
With a high volume practice (performing more than three times average UK caseload) Mr Petheram is a busy joint replacement surgeon. He is heavily involved in several national projects, including roles on the executive committee of the British Hip Society, the UK Bone and Joint Infection Society, and helps lead the UK Bone and Joint Infection Registry. He has received National recognition of his surgical training as National Trainer of the Year in 2023. He has published and presented several papers on hip and knee replacement surgery, attends meetings across the UK and world to stay up to date, often as faculty, and has led various large multicentre studies in Northumbria, such as the RACER Hip robotic hip replacement research project.
